About the product
Bee bread, also known as perga. In the season when flowers are rich in pollen, worker bees gather pollen and nectar, then pack the pollen and the nectar they have kneaded and fermented with their own enzymes into empty cells of the comb. They store this nourishing substance, which contains vitamins, minerals and amino acids, above all to feed the brood.
It is collected from the comb cells with a metal tool similar to a syringe. Anyone over the age of two without an allergy to bee products can eat it.
ABT Doğal Ürünler is one of the first companies to introduce perga in Türkiye. Our products are collected from beehives in the provinces of Sivas, Bursa, Kastamonu and Sakarya, in areas away from city centres, sprayed farmland and main roads.
How to use
- Start with one teaspoon a day.
- Consume it by chewing directly or mixed into honey.
- Do not take it with a hot drink.
- Store in a cool, dry place.
Ingredients and purity
One hundred per cent pure bee bread, perga. It is pollen that the bees press into the comb cells, seal with beeswax and leave to ferment naturally.
No additives or preservatives. It may contain fragments of comb, which is part of its natural structure.
Scent and feel
Tangy and yeasty, with honey sweetness behind. Its texture is denser than pollen and easier to chew.
The colour ranges from deep yellow to brown, varying with the degree of fermentation.
Who it suits, who it does not
Suitable for: daily support at breakfast and between meals, in adults.
Caution: it is a food supplement and is not used to prevent or treat disease. Anyone allergic to bee products should not use it. Not to be used during pregnancy, while breastfeeding or in babies under one year old. If you take medication regularly, consult your doctor.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the difference between bee bread and pollen?
- Bee bread is pollen fermented by the bees in the comb cells. Fermentation changes its texture and taste, and it is easier to eat than raw pollen.
- Why is it more expensive than pollen?
- The amount of bee bread a hive produces is far smaller than that of pollen; the bees prepare it as their own winter food.
- How is it stored?
- In a cool, dry place, in a closed jar. It keeps better than pollen but must be kept away from moisture.
