About the product
Flaxseed oil is a natural, lightly scented plant oil obtained by cold pressing flax seeds. With its distinctive texture and characteristic taste it is a favoured ingredient both in personal care formulations and for those who want natural ingredients.
It is generally used as a supporting oil in skin and hair care products and fits easily into various blends. Its thin, fluid structure makes it practical to use.
Obtained through natural production processes, flaxseed oil can be used plain or together with other plant oils. With its light colour and natural character it is an ideal choice for adding a botanical touch to care routines.
The product is liquid at room temperature and carries its own natural aroma.
How to use
- Take a few drops onto cleansed, slightly damp skin.
- Warm it in your palms and spread it over the face and neck.
- In your night routine, use it under your cream or mixed into it.
- If you are adding an essential oil, at most 2 drops per 10 ml of oil.
Ingredients and purity
One hundred per cent pure flaxseed oil (Linum usitatissimum), cold pressed.
It is unrefined. It oxidises very quickly and must be kept in the fridge after opening.
Scent and feel
Clearly seedy and slightly herbal. The texture is light and absorbs quickly.
If it smells sour it has oxidised; do not use it.
Who it suits, who it does not
Suitable for: face and body care, hair care, and as a carrier oil in aromatherapy blends.
Caution: it is for cosmetic purposes and is not to be eaten. Avoid contact with the eyes. Before first use, apply a drop to the inside of your arm and wait twenty-four hours. Do not use on open wounds or irritated skin. For cosmetic use. It is very sensitive to light and heat, so store it in the fridge.

- Why should it be kept in the fridge?
- Flaxseed oil is among the fastest-oxidising of the fixed oils. If it is not kept cold it turns rancid within a few months.
- How can I tell if it has gone off?
- Its smell turns sour and sharp. If you notice such a smell, do not use it.
- How is it stored and how long does it keep?
- Cool, dark and tightly closed. Fixed oils oxidise in light and heat, so use within six months to a year of opening. If it smells sour, do not use it.
